Hi all,

Too many thinks to do and too little time, so my unfinished VAWT project can go to someone who can finish it off. It's basically the innards from a washing maching. The drum on top spins very freely and the belt and pulley set up provides the kind of gearing gearing required for it to spin a DC motor to the required rpms.

The drum on top just needs modifying to allow it to be spun by wind power. You'll also need a DC motor as the one in the picture I'm keeping for another little project.

Anyway, does anybody want it? I seem to recall Chris psmith wanted something like this so perhaps first refusal should go to Chris.

Cheers

Del.

Del,

Picked the bits up in Belgium this week, bit of a roundabout way to get from Pontefract to Bromsgrove but it worked!
Thanks, looks like the good start of a second project, got hold of a 600W brushless motor that I will have a go with on it.

Regards
Chris

Hi Chris,

Ferrybridge services is absolutely fine. It's only 10 mins from me so your contact can choose the time and day to suit him, although I go to French class on Wednesday evenings between 7 and 9.

Peter - if this falls through you're welcome to it. I'm go up the A1 every now and again so I'm sure we could arrange something.

Cheers both.

Del, best I can come up with after chatting to my contact is a rendevous at Ferrybridge services in the evening between 5 and 6pm one day this week. If thats too much hassle then Peter sounds like the ideal answer.

Regards
Chris

If you get no takers, I live in Thirsk, 9 miles south of Northallerton and therefore much warmer! I'd like something like your savonius to tinker with.

I'm going past Northallerton tomorrow, well, within about 8 miles of it. If your mate could meet me on the A1 (or just off it) I'll be going by at about 8.20am and then again at about 1.45pm.

Cheers

Del, based in Bromsgrove in Midlands so miles away. Best i can do is a colleague who lives in northallerton, but doubt i could push him enough to go and collect for me, so will have to keep searching.

Hi Chris,

I'm near Pontefract in West Yorkshire. Postage would be awkward due to size and I'm sure would not be that cheap. If we can't hook up sometime soon then I would suggest that it's easier to just get a scrap washer yourself and do the same thing. I'd try freecycle - you're bound to get loads of offers.

Anyway, where are you based?

Cheers

Del.

Del, all very tempting, if i didn't use it then i am sure my mate who is also buying one of the gennys on friday would use it.
Where about are you? Any idea of a postage cost?
Chris
