Dear all

I've just registered on this forum from a kind invite to do so from Ben

I have been carving wind turbine blades for a couple of years and have just posted a first attempt to sell the blades I make on eBay (handcrafted wind turbine blades). http://tinyurl.com/33jzbl

These are not for powering houses etc but merely to make an attractive feature in a garden that can provide some useful power for the shed and garden lights/pond etc. This is what I use them for

I have been advised this might be a useful service so here's the link to my very primative website www.shaunscottage.co.uk. Please use eBay to purchase unless it's outside the offering then just email me

I will be offering 6v and 12v complete turbines once I have stressed tested my new generator design. Its standard hand wound coils but looks nice. I just need to test the new mounting

I like the look of the Ametek and its convenience but its metal and some might say a little ugly... I'm trying to get a nice overall wood feature for a garden.

Hope you find it interesting...ps. please don't moan about the pole set-up.. it was thrown up for testing and was not safe.. not best practice

www.shaunscottage.co.uk

Thank you

Mark

I actually was scared for your life during that runaway video. Impressive.

Hi Mark,

Any idea of the rpms you were getting on your 'runaway' video, looks fairly impressive for 6' diameter blades.

I'd quite like to have a go at doing my own wooden blades at some point so would be really interested to see more detailed pics of yours (profile etc).

All the best with the sales on ebay and keep us all posted on your hand wound generators.

Cheers

Del.

Hi MattM

I have posted a small bit of video with the turbine going a little fast for my bottle. This was as fast as I was prepared to let it go on the flimsy rig

Thanks

Mark

Hi,

not sure as I don't have any way of measuring wind speed. Tp[s of the trees were moving though. Also, the video doesn't show it at top speed that day. I had to pull it out of the wind for fear of complete runwawy. I shall post video link of the full speed it ran to

How fast was the wind that day of the test?

Thanks for contributing Mark.

I'm sure your wood working skills will be of great use here.
I would be interested to see a couple of photos of your hand wound alternator, is it made of wood?

As you are new to forums (as discussed in email), you should continue any discussion within this thread, as I have just done.
This is how you insert images to a post.
