Posted - 11/04/2008 : 22:40:09 Hello everyone at gotwind, I have now found myself without any projects to mess about with, since I have sold the treadmill turbine, I am now looking at the future energy alternator to buy and mess about with, I will make wooden blades for it, but I would take this opportunity, to see if there is another fellow gotwinds that are also interested in buying the genarator, and has far as I can remember, we need 4 to 5 people to get a discount from them, so is anyone outhere that want to join the deal, I also recently bought the watts up meter and what a nice bit of kit it is, today while it was quite windy, I saw my ametek 30 put out 64watts at a time, which I think although not amazing, when you compare the cost of the ametek, and the cost of a 60 watts solar panel, the amtek commes up tops, that is if you live in a nice windy area, I'm pretty sure it would do more, but my location although good isn't great, my plan is to see more than 4 to 5 amps going through the new meter into the battery bank, so i am looking at the 12v future energy, that on paper at 300 rpm can put 12.5 amps into the battery, now that would be amazing to see, on the other hand I would also like to take this opportunity to ask members that have already bought the generator their thoughts, I think dell, fungus amongst a few more, have already tested them, are they as good as on paper, also just wondering if you can do the rectification close to the battery, has this would be great so I can use extension leads from turbine to rectifire then maybe a more heavy duty cable to the battery.

Posted - 14/04/2008 : 09:35:55 O.k fellow gotwinds, just to inform you that the deal still stands, I have spoken to sandra at the future energy, and the deal is £105+VAt plus carriage, you may also consider buying their rectifier, which after speaking to one of the technical people he told me that yes you can rectify the ac to dc close to the battery so you basically save a bit on the cabling, the reason why they don't do it on their turbine is because of the slip rings that they use, so comme on 3 more people. cheers super windy |

Posted - 13/04/2008 : 23:28:16 cheers dell for the info, so it seems that we need 3 more people I am very keen on getting my hands on it I already have 4 bits of 8 by 2 pine to do the blades, ideally I would like cedar or ash, cause of there properties and strength but if I do it in pine first then when I get my hands on the cedar I would hopefully know what I'm doing . I will try and ring sandra tomorrow and confirm if the deal still stands, will let you guys know, once again cheers dell. cheerio super windy

Posted - 13/04/2008 : 21:52:26 Hi Superwindy,
64 watts from an Ametek 30 isn't too shabby, that must have been close on 5 amps. Still, I reckon over 12 months usage a 60W solar panel would give you substantially more power than the Ametek.
Anyway, the Futurenergy PMG. I'm ashamed to say that mine is still in its box. My plan is that I will need it for when I move down to the Pyrenees later thisn year and I don't really have the space or aspect to use it where I am.
The deal is, or should be, exactly the same as it was in the last couple of months of 2007 so you need to purchase five or more to get the discounted price (£105 plus VAT). The way I organised the last batch was that we all placed our orders within an hour of each other on an agreed date and the orders were processed same day and dispatched to the separate addresses. The contact at Futurenergy is Sandra. Give here a call and I'm sure she'll sort you out.
Cheers
