I've located some batteries and wanted to post the specs on them, see what you guys with experience think of them.
These are golf cart batteries, new from a local vendor that I've had experience with before.
Manufacturer : East Penn
Model : PS2200
Voltage: 6v
474 minutes at 25amps
At 20 hours, 232 amp/hrs
Price $174.95 each
I was thinking of starting with six of these batteries for charging. This summer I plan on running my Ametek 99 generator and a 480watt solar array to charge this pack.
If you could let me know if you think this would work well, your comments would be appreciated. Thank-you.

BW- "I think $175 is a bit pricey" may be the most polite thing I ever heard. 
$175 for a golf cart battery? YIKES! 
Here, That is enought to buy 2, with enough left over for gas to mow the lawn. Twice if the lawn is small.
Gosh. Trojan T-105s shouldn't be that much!
Looks for local "Interstate" brand dealers.
It is not a plug. They have a good battery, and the price is better in many markets.
And if you are talking about 3 pairs, that's about 700AH at 12V. That is a LOT of battery.
Might look around a pair (or 2 pair) of L16s or L16HCs.

That's a great comment. I went to the website and didn't see anything about 2 volt batteries. Never actually heard about 2 volt batteries before. This is exactly why forums are great! They open up all sorts of new ideas.
What's the advantage of going 2 volt batteries over 6 volt?
Yes, I am going all in on this project. So much to learn though. Ghurd was kind enough to educate me about dump controllers and is getting me all set up there. And many people have helped with selecting the right motor. I've decided on blades and a hub, and have the Hugh Piggott books on "Windpower Workshop" and "How to build a wind turbine", so have some reading to do now.
Basically figured out the wire I need to get the 533 feet from the turbine to the house, so now what's left is batteries and inverters. Then there's the whole solar end of it, with sun tracking, charge controllers... I'm going to be busy!!!

store last week and had a look at some of the 2 volt batteries in stock. They certainly don't look very portable (unless you own a forklift ) I have found my Battery direct dealer to be honest and reasonably priced. I don't know if they have a dealership near you but if you look on their website I'm sure you can find out.

It looks like you are jumping in the deep end with your system, but I think $175 is a bit pricey for golf cart batteries. If you are going to that expense you might want to consider going to 6, 2 volt batteries instead. They are intended for your application and should outlast golf cart batteries.
