Posted - 29/06/2008 : 15:02:34 hi shawn, I did use a template, I down loaded bens plans that includes a template, the reson why they were not same weights was the pipe was not the same thickness all the way down the pipe 1mm diff.

Posted - 29/06/2008 : 14:07:56 Speaking as an engineer and having watched the Youtube videos "IF" I was cutting blades from PVC pipe I would Draw up a template first out of thin card. You could always do one blade first then make your template from this once your happy with it. Then all your blades are going to be virtually identical. Then balance them with washers on the mounting points. Us a CD marker pen to draw out on the pipe. SEE I do know something!!!!!

Posted - 29/06/2008 : 13:38:25 Hi victor, when i cut the blades, there was a big diffance in the weight between each of the blades,& it took a lot of sanding down to get them all the same weight, they were then primed & top coated so they should be ok, many thanks pintail. |

Posted - 27/06/2008 : 19:30:12 I got 2m of grey coloured guttering from B&Q for less than £5. I assume that it has UV protection but dont know for sure. It's NOT a FULL semi-circle of tubing. I have measured it's "diameter" and it's about 4 and a half inches. I havent cut it up yet cos I havent printed the plans off yet. |

Posted - 27/06/2008 : 16:56:21 You're right about the UV Pintail, the orange stuff is usually designed for below ground (PVC), so you need to be looking for (PVC-U)in orange, grey, black and I think some firms also do it in white. Try looking up 6" drainage, e.g Hepworths, Polypipe etc
Hope this is of help, Hef |

Posted - 14/05/2008 : 10:28:15 Just catching up on the latest threads.
My local B&Q does do the normal 6" soil pipe. £11 or £12 from memory for a 3M length. Maybe it's just the bigger B&Q's though.

Posted - 12/05/2008 : 23:03:43 Hi Pintail
Do not use pipe, try circular gutter section instead. It is very strong but does flex, also there is less work as the trailing edge is already straight.

Posted - 11/05/2008 : 13:36:09 I got a meter for free. I went to a local housing development and just asked the one with the tie
Try to get there when they are doing the initial groundwork, because that's when the drainage goes in. |

Posted - 11/05/2008 : 12:13:20 Try looking in the 'proper' building merchants/warehouses such as Keyline,Grahams etc - there is some pretty big pipe available. B&Q etc are only really DIY stores and as such wont have 'real' stuff. 4" pipe still works ok though, not quite as well though. |
