Not sure if I believe this concept.
The blades are readily available model aircraft props I believe.
Thoughts welcomed.

Hi everyone
I like the concept quite alot....quite radical and i cant really dis believe his claims.
Only concern with aeroplane propellers is their profiles which are different to wind turbines.
I bought a wooden 28" prop off Ebay which worked quite well....but the propeller had to be mounted revese side to its normal use to make it perform similar to a wind turbine blade.....all to do with the profile im afraid.
Im sure selsam knows this difference will effect the gens power performance though !!!!.

A week ago I ordered a model airplane blade to use on my turbine, after reading an article that can be found by googling "wind turbine design summary" 1999. They did wind tunnel tests and the two blade concept did much better than 3 blades. No explanation why.
I'm in an area that seems to get either no wind or 25 knot plus, so thought I would start off with a small blade, and go from there. I get big gusts at night and just want to be able to sleep and not think about the blades. The model airplane props are available up to 34 inches. I also considered a prop from a motorized paraglider but they are pricey. Anyone tried a single airplane prop? |

I dont see that motor or shafts lasting long, it looks way overloaded. I worry about a single prop never mind 14. One good wind and Watch your head! Then you will have a really open mind. |

Hello Ben,
Doug Selsam pretty much sums it up with "More Rotors = More Power ... " He's pushed this concept into several directions, all of which are unconventional and innovative to say the very least. The numbers pretty much speak for themselves with his innovations, and some are better than others, while some such as the one above in the photo are very clearly the stepping stones to his more dramatic breakthroughs. We all should be so open minded ...
