Posted - 05/08/2007 : 21:46:43 Well they are really 30 inches but 2 spread out wide would give me over 60 Inches....on the DYNOHUB I`m wanting quicker start up and hope these blades will slow down in faster winds....
These are made slightly bigger than the blade which I got from ben`s blade plans.....
Personally before I made another 3 of them what do you think will happen???? fast start up slower in higher winds??????
It`s over to you gotwinds.....

Post some photos of the finished assembly please!
Just our of interest how much does the B&Q drainpipe cost - it seems to be extortionate here... |

Posted - 05/08/2007 : 22:04:58 The small ones are superb! They are from the Bens Blade Plans and I agree i`m pushing it with the PVC.I noticed that B+Q have made their pvc plastic thinner than the last stuff I got a few months back.....
I would love to make the Ben`s Blade plans into Aircraft Aluminuim Blades...... To be honest i`m just messing about....Trying new things on my second Turbine and see how they both compare.
For superb blades I can only think of Aircraft Aluminium and a lot of time to shape them. |

Your 5 Foot diameter is pushing the limits, I'm not sure what pvc wall thickness you have - You might experience unwanted flexing of the blades at high wind speeds, if they were to hit the towers pole this could be a problem...
A larger diameter prop will be slower - but start up quicker hopefully.
I would also round the tips of the blades.
