Just seen this so hope it's of use to someone. Not a bad price for a small output turbine.

Cheers

Del.

ghurd:

How do I go about buying one of your charge controller kits?

I had an Aerogen 25 which didn't give out much power, sold it on ebay and bought a futurenergy generator unit (just got to build the yaw mount)

Yes, not the best value in the world but it's primarily for yachts so is lightweight, waterproof and robust and will produce a trickle charge all day every day probabaly.

I suppose if you can afford a nice yacht you can afford a small expensive turbine!

It certainly is...

And as we say in the States, Wholly Crap! US$853 for 13W in a 20 MPH wind? Ouch.
It gives me a better understanding of why the UK people have so much interest in Ameteks.

Hi Ghurd,

It's probably from an Aerogen 2 (the baby of the aerogen range)

Actually, the kit is only £7.52 (todays exchange rate), including shipping... even to the UK.
It handles 6A per fet, includes 2 fets, and more can be added. So the basic kit can handle about 2.5X more power, but it doesn't come with power resistors.
Plus the voltage can be adjusted to suit the situation and batteries.

That resistor in the link isn't cheap, and it is assembled.

I kind of wonder what kind of windmill it was intended for with only 5A, and what kind of parts is in it to require that much heat sink. I'd love to find an efficient small windmill that only made 4 or 5A peak!

Nice unit for the price Del.
Ghurds £10 charge controller is rated about the same, it just needs building and some kind of resistive load attaching to dump the extra power - I will get around to building mine when I have some time - Sorry Glen, been busy...
