Posted - 01/03/2008 : 20:56:22 Agreed Ghurd - very 'wordy' nonsense.
I made an attempt at a similar style HAWT a couple of years ago. http://www.gotwind.org/led_windgen.htm
I used windstuff ED's vein design, and the 'tumbling' magnet design alternator, quite clever really - but low powered and non scalable I suspect?
The Futures Green - Getwind of it. |

Posted - 01/03/2008 : 20:49:41 It seems I don’t read advertisements the same as other people. I find this very humorous and will apologize in advance because I can't stop myself. Sorry.
“Non blade design for user safety” It has no blades? “No twisting or connecting cable” It has no wires? “Maintenance free Sealed Bearings” It has bearings with a lot of drag? ”Corrosion resistant external components” Plastic? “Electrical circuit fully protected” From that 5W? “Solid state rectifier” Instead of the mechanical type?
It would be a fine home made unit, and I made worse, but a factory should do better. G-

Posted - 01/03/2008 : 20:09:08 Nice looking unit, I've seen the same ones before on eBay, and they will go for over £200 ($400), because they look nice and safe. The actual output is 5-10 watts in a gale (coastal areas) - no longer made I hasten to add.
Works out at £26 ($52) per watt.
