Posted - 07/03/2008 : 21:02:11 Big wind on Monday If your wind generators are of the non furling type, you may want to consider the predicted very high winds for Monday 10th. 70 m.ph+ - unusual for U.K, not unusual for Scottish Donnie I suspect...
This is what happened to mine in a 80 m.ph gust. http://www.gotwind.org/RIP.htm
My fault, I foolishly used polypropylene rope as guys, they broke down and lost their strength under the suns U.V light over a very short time and failed under huge strains - I use steel cable now. Still learning
Ben.

Posted - 11/03/2008 : 19:02:24 It was a wee bit gusty yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary, i think that it was a steady 40 gusting 50mph at wick airport, and today is flat calm, maybe its the lull before the storm...lol. but we do have heavy snow forecast for the next few days. But i hope nobody suffered any damage from the gales, it was rough down the west country by all accounts 80mph+ winds.
Donnie.

Posted - 10/03/2008 : 20:35:55 Didn't see any wind here in Shropshire today - bit disappointed. It was totally still at one point - The wind is a fickle master at times.. |

Posted - 09/03/2008 : 20:59:57 Calm here now, wait till 12pm tomorrow - as ever the forecast could very well be wrong... http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/ukweather/index.shtml#no_url
Does anyone know of a better 'Live' online wind map in the U.K?
Cheers Ben. |
