O.k guys I have just received the watts up meter, however I have, I think connect it wrong, should it go before the diode, or after the diode, I have connect it after the diode, which is showing the battery voltage, bugger, I think it had to go before the diode, nothing nasty happened, except once again prove that I am a complete twat when it cammes to electronics, god the learning curve is too steep, enjoyable, but too much for my little brain to take it all in, my brain is overheating, I need another little solar panel attached to a small computer fan in my ear to help my brain remain cool.
Anyway I'm still alive, hopefully you can give me somme advice before I barbeque my meter or shed, or just have a pop @ me for being so electronic retarded.
cheers

good idea ben, i will test it on the solar panel, has i already know the power, usual volts and amps and I have 2 different meters to compare.

You could also test it with just you solar panel, again if it is reasonably bright...

cheers ben for that, I guess I was right in the first place, the wind is not blowing today, so I can't give any information on the ametek output, sods law when you need mother nature to blow a gale it fights you all the way, however the weekend might be more fruitfull.
cheers

Just hook it up as per diagram below, after the diode, but it shouldn't matter

It will show the battery voltage until the turbine spins above that voltage then it will indicate the charging amps e,tc.
