I hope you won that Item because I did not bid on it lol... I got the Dynohub and EDH dynamo the last time. Nothing worse if we all bid on the same stuff.
I`m still looking for off the shelf dynamos and motors.I recently have been looking at disco light stepper motors and other motors they use for turning lights
found a 40 rpm motor 4 watts... from NJD in England..
I used to repair Disco lights at home.

Nah, I got my lucas C40 dynamo to play with. Have you thought of using the PMA flywheel alternator off of an old motorcycle. Most small motorcycles use a magnetised flywheel inside of or around a stator plate.

Motorcycle PMA's spin far too fast guys - good idea though, maybee 2000-3000 rpms +
Watch out for motors that suggest a low rpm rating, they almost always have a reduction gearbox, i.e they are still high speed per volt motors.
Treadmill motors are the best option so far in the U.K - Ameteks in the U.S

True, if you rewound the stator might get somewhere, alot of hastle though for a 100 Watt genny.

They are brush type AC motors with a fed field winding, if you made a simple voltage sensing current controll to feed the winding with you would have a DC generator. The field winding will not want no way near as much voltage as when on AC as there is no inductive reactance to DC. I think a good motor to try would be the low speed 12v motors that power windscreen wipers. I'm pretty sure they are PM type and don't spin overly fast.

I tried windscreen wiper motors a few years back, they are geared with a worm and wheel drive.
I was very disappointed - The motors are PM motors but need over 1500 rpm to hit any where near 12 volts, too higher revs for a prop.
Keep hunting guys, we will find something mainstream and suitable soon hopefully....
