I have started a forum post on Dynohubs.Basically to keep all the information related to Dynohubs on the one thread as I seem to splatter this forum with too many posts.

Firstly for people new to the forum they probably have a dynohub already and come here to get info on how to turn it into a Wind Turbine.

I`ll post a review of the Dynohub Votlage Doubler kit i`m getting soon from arcvillage.org....Howver since they produce a kit i`m not going to post the entire values of the components and stuff ,but it will be along the lines of how good the kit performs.

Ok.To start the Dynohub forum post off.

Question - What is the highest voltage given by a Dynohub working at full speed in a decent wind? How much current is it likely to produce? I reckon half an amp ,but I could be wrong...Anyone that can answer how much current is likely to come off this small generator please let us know....

440 mA is the best I have seen at 12 volts DC - open voltage about 20+ volts.

The Futures Green - Getwind of it.

Do you have a link to the voltage doubler kit. If it is a SMPS design it will consume a good chunk of your dynohub output on idle.

I looks to me like its a phase shift circuit to amplify the peak power output of the sinewave..I`ll PM you on this with more info. (I could be wrong and probably am)

I`ll PM you on this subject later in the evening.

Below is a Voltage Doubler Circuit that works to increase the voltage to charge a 12 Volt battery. It`s currently working well on my Dynohub turbine

where does AC get applied and DC taken from.

I will redraw the diagram and add that information so it is clear.

Image of the Voltage doubler in action. It was able to power 2 strip lights straight from the Dynohub and no batteries attached. to have them working 100% I`d need 2 amps I think 12 Volts...

Dynohub only gives out 500ma and I was rather suprised at the result at full spin......

Hopefully I`ll get a scooter motor or treadmill motor in the future to get some decent power stored.

Here is pic of voltage Doubler.

1 - Negative output DC
2 - Wire from Dynohub Turbine AC IN
3 - Wire from Dynohub Turbine AC IN
4 - Positive output DC

Kit can be supplied in the UK from www.arcvillage.org for around £8 and it was constructed and soldered up for that too... :-) Handy buying it from them for the fact it was £5 for me to travel to Maplins in Glasgow.....Makes sense really buying it from Arcvillage.
You also get a decent switch that allows you to have normal or high voltage output.

I really can`t see the Dynohub charging a car battery without having a higher voltage in lowish wind speeds. My turbine hits 110 revs in a small light wind and goes ballistic in higher winds..

Kit came well packed with 2 sheets of construction diagrams and also top quality components higher rated rectifier than a w005 and a decent quality switch fit for the job for years!

Kit overall rating 10/10 for quality.

www.arcvillage.org

I`d dont want to show the values of the capacitors and stuff on the forum ,but just wanted to show that the kit is availiable and also other cds and stuff on the www.arcvillage.com website...... Maybe some folks might want tovisit the classes for fun next summer...There might be places still on the go for august.....

I recently had been told there is a yearly GREEn renewable energy meeting in a Park in Edinburgh.Hosted by Edinburgh council....Maybe of interest to the Scottish GetWinds!!!

I¬ll be going to it next year broadcasting arcvillage and gotwind.... Possibly with a few turbines on show...
