Hello Ben - Great website.
Is it possible to build a wind turbine and wire it to my U.K 230v mains circuit in the house?

I have seen B&Q are selling a kit for 1,500GBP and I though it was expensive.

I am thinking of building some kind of wind turbine for my house.

Thanks
Kurt

Hello Kurt.

I wouldn’t advise direct connection to the mains circuit.

Most wind generators produce 12 or 24v DC – This power can be stored in lead acid batteries and then a 240v AC Invertor can be used to power small mains appliances.

I have seen the B&Q wind generator and it compelled me to publish a web page on my website.

The B&Q wind generator product is clever, in that it plugs directly into the house mains but in my opinion it should be mounted separately on a pole, and is a little expensive.

Hope this helps

Ben.
