My family and I go camping at the beach quite often.......I was wondering if anyone had any good ideas on how I can build a wind generator to charge my two deep celled batteries. I am not afraid to tackle a project.
It would have to be portable and lite weight.

Thank You

Guessing "camping at the beach quite often" means for a short duration.
"portable and lite weight" means a trickle charger. Do not expect to charge a dead pair of deep cycle batteries in 24 hours with a small windmill. The tower alone rules out portable and lite weight for a high power windmill.
"portable and lite weight" will have a different meaning for every person.

There is no wind power available below about 6MPH. That is pretty windy at ground level.
Might regularly get 6MPH on the oceans, but beaches on inland lakes will not get much past that very often in OH.

It would be pretty easy to do it within the limitations using a brushed permanent magnet DC motor of suitable voltage and RPM.
Something like a 1150RPM 90V 1/4HP for something larger,
Maybe 1750RPM 90V or 180V for something smaller.
Maybe a servo motor for almost anything.
There are too many variations to give anything more detailed. It will take a lot of reading to make a decent decision.

Be aware of the limitations within the circumstances.

Alternativly, not knowing your location, solar may be a far simpler solution this time of year.

Today for me solar has been far superior to my turbines.

Ben.
