As you can see on the image I hve now changed my tailfin with two small parts of drainpipe that were going to be stuck in the bin.Usually I keep all the spare bits...

Reason i`m posting this is to tell you it is catching the wind much faster and far better at turning the turbine as it weights less.

I`m trying now to make my wind turbine as light as possible.

1 - Small waterproof board to hold the blades
2 - Light Tailfin that seems to catch the wind better.
3 - Aluminium boom length to keep all the weight down....

Also all parts are rustproof.

One other thing about these Dynohubs.I reckon the work far better charging a 6 volt battery than a 12 volt one. If you make two turbines and use them for charging an individual 6 volt battery I think you will have a better sucess rate.

If you are using it top up a 12V battery thats fine, but youll need a voltage doubler for it.....

For the amount of time I have been working on this project testing things out regarding the Dynohub I think thats about the best report I can give my fellow Gotwinds.

Once I have built the other Dynohub Turbine I`ll leave the two of them stuck to the Garden Hut.......

2nd Project is trying out the NOVOTECH DYNAMO........

Ben how much Current and voltage did you get from yours?? EHD-1 NOVOTECH As I have 2 of these brand new as my next project!!

HOLD ON!! Does that mean i`ll have 4 Turbines in the garden lol lol

I can't remember exactly Victor. It was certainly more than the dynohub.

You can verify this by measuring the coil windings resistance on both. the EHD-1 NOVOTECH had a lot less resistance, therefore using ohms law at a given voltage of 6 volts there would be more current available.

Victor, how do you stop the wires off the dynohub wrapping around the vertical pole when your turbine turns?

Thanks Ben......
I`ll try and get the results onto the website when I have fired up the Novotech.

Peter....
One way of getting the cable to stop hitting the blades is to drill another nut and bolt and stick something like a small piece of chain onto it and feed therough the wire.....I found that this stopped the wire going anywhere near the turbine blades...

I have also spent some time trying to find a way of the wire form twisting myself.....however it does not twist much as the wind comes from the same direction most of the time and if you chech the turbine every few days you can untangle it..

One way I was thinking of tidying up the leads was to feed it right through the inside of the pole....However the bit that turns would be a little tricky....hope that answered the question peter......If not i`ll take a few piccys for you.....
