Del New here and reading through past posts so may be too late. You may need to add in vat + charges to the total. You usually get hit for the total including shipping as vat + a Parcelforce fee, I've been hit for 8 and 12 pounds recently from the states for this. Of course the one that realy makes laugh or my blood boil, they then want to charge you another 12 quid or so if you want them to go to the trouble of actually delivering it to your door!.... Never managed to figure what gets customs interested in a package mind you. Regards Robo |

Thanks Robo,
Yes we've been discussing this a bit further over that last few weeks on the "import duty" thread and the "output data on my Ametek 30" thread.
I think I might now go for the Futurenergy unit due to it being so much more powerful. If you have a read through those threads you will see that the shorted amps data outputs are nowhere near what you really get when connected up to a battery bank, so halving the windblue power outputs (prob roughly what I'd really get) means it would be a bit puny.
The import duty charges are still a bit of a mystery to us. Sometimes you're lucky and sometimes you're not.
Anyway, welcome to the forum.
Cheers

Hello all,
I have a REALLY interesting offer for you.
If you could buy a decent PMG for £105 (£140 inc VAT & delivered), would you be interested?
Cut-in is 230rpm and goes up to 46 amps at 380rpm.
As well as myself I need four other people to make this viable. If we can get over 10 people the price would reduce further still.
Either reply via the forum or send me a private message.
Cheers

Got a link to the product in question Del? You may get 4 takers - I would have thought the Chinese (Navitron) turbines are also pretty competitive.
I wish you well.

Hi Ben,
It's the Futurenergy PMG (no surprise really).
Here's a link:
http://www.futurenergy.co.uk/products.html
If you scroll down the page a bit you'll see the PMG and you can download the technical specs (dimensions). The important bits are the four downloads for the four different voltage options. They range from the 660W 12v version to the 1.5KW 48V version. All available at the price I've mentioned above.
I really think this is a the best value we're going to get as a buy it now option. It's a LOT of power for relatively little money. Especially the 1.5KW 48V version.
The Chinese turbines are certainly cheap for a complete unit (via Navitron and loads of others). 200W for £230 delivered (£200 ex delivery) including tower and controller etc. But they are only 200W and the standard blades are awful. I would also be concerned about their quality and durability. Remember, there's a big difference between price and cost. A cheap price can often lead to an expensive mistake. Caveat emptor.
Cheers

Del, sounds interesting, may be interested, need some more time to get my ideas together, looking at building a savonius and the speed of these ones would seem well suited. Current thought is that building the savonius will be fun, getting a motor to work frustrating! Chris |

Hi Chris,
Well that's hopefully two of us then. Just three more to go to make it viable.
Are you going to gear up the output from your savonius?
Cheers

Hi Chris,
I'm really sorry to report that it looks like it's just you and me at the moment. I'm fairly amazed really. This is a top class generator that produces a lot of power for bargain money. You just can't get more watts for your £.
If nobody else has expressed interest in the next couple of weeks I'll have to go back to the supplier and see what i can negotiate for buying two instead of the five they said was the minimum quantity to get the price reduction.
I saw a secondhand 24v unit sell on ebay a couple of weeks ago for about the same money as we could get a new one at (£140 delivered) so this really is a bargain.
Anyhoo, maybe someone else will fancy one.
Cheers

Hi Brian,
This is fantastic. That's three of us now so all we need is two more and we're there.
Come on people. This is a powerful quality generator at a bargain price.
Cheers

On a different string Ben wrote:
It makes Del's £140 (delivered) alternator proposal all the more tempting. How do you propose collecting individuals funds and delivering the PMG's Del? I would suggest paypal for payment.
Hi Ben,
The Futurenergy generator offer would be for each interested individual to place their order direct with Futurenergy on roughly the same day. I would suggest i have everyone's home tele numbers (for those interested) so I can co-ordinate the ordering and then I'll liase with my contact at Futurenergy to check they have received all the orders. Once this is confirmed then the items will be dispatched directly to each customer.
So far it's myself and two others (chris psmith and bs85) so all we need is two more to make up the minimum order quantity of five to get this discounted price.
Come on you power hungry wind nuts, don't be shy.
Cheers
Del.
PS. I will copy this on the right string to avoid confusion.
