Hi ben and all little gotwinds, please take the time to look at this link and let me know if this could be used for our application, I'm going to australia on the 2nd of december and if needed and if this is a good buy then I could buy loads and bring them back to the u.k, on the 16th january I would be back and post them to whoever wants them or needs them, anyway here's the link:
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AA0264&CATID=&keywords=voltage&SPECIAL=&form=KEYWORD&ProdCodeOnly=&Keyword1=&Keyword2=&pageNumber=&priceMin=&priceMax=&SUBCATID=
please let me know if this could be used for our application, cheers

Looks good.
I'm assuming Output current: max. 2Amps at the converted voltage i.e > 26 volts.
Therefore total power handling 2x26= 52 watts.

Not really enough power handling for the Ametek, unless you have very low winds.

Superwindy, keep a look out for the Fisher & Paykel Smartdrive motors, as found in washing machines in Australia, bit heavy for hand luggage, but rewired they make a nice 3 phase alternator and plenty of scrap ones apparently.
I wouldn't bring the subject up over christmas lunch - you might get some funny looks

hi guys I rang today this company on e-bay and one of the technical staff called me back, and after explaining to him the whole story about my wind turbines, he said that this item is exactly what we need except(there is always a catch), the apms, if the turbine goes over the 2 amps the unit would be damaged, but if we could keep the amps below 2 amps then it would be perfect for our application, the company is,called Brocott and they sell stuff on e-bay.
However he said that hopefully in 6 months time, due to high demand for a higher amp output unit, there will be one available, so its a waiting game until then, unless someone here that is amazing at circuits can camme up with something, maybe ghurd, fungus or anyone that might just be able to crack it, if it can be achieved then there would be a great number of customers including myself, I want 2 please, I have been searching the otherpower website and there was a few there, but me personally unless it was made out of wood I'm hopeless.

How I would use it;
I would connect the booster before the diode, then it'll only help significantly when the turbine is below cutin; when its needed, and after that feed in some energy with the diode losses. You could also use a boost converter using a TL494, I'm making one now but it'll take a while to complete it- busy with stuff just now.
