New challenge guys, just thought of it
Wrong time of year in the U.K obviously, but there may be bargains to be had???

Who can find the cheapest watt/£ solar panel.
I think they should be categorised as they tend to be cheaper the larger they are, I suggest;

5 watts
20 watts
50 watts
75 watts
100 watts
Standard delivery needs to be included also.

I've got them solar panels on my roof right now and making power -they are very nice quality panels, they have glass on both sides of the film sealing it well, unlike a lot of other amorphous panels. A while ago I got a great deal on my 5w panels at £15 each off ebay - £3/watt, I just wish I had gotten more than two at the time, they arent being sold any more. Navitron are pretty cheap at

3.50 £/watt

If your looking for the lowest cost - highest quality Solar Panles in the Country then here is my challenge to you !

If you can find the same quality Monocrystalline Solar Panels or Solar Panels kits in the UK with a 25 year warranty we will beat any quote!

We have an online shop here - http://shop.freesolarenergy.co.uk we must be doing something right as our customers have taken all our stock this year - we are sold out till our 2008 season stock comes in January 2008.

We only have 180W Solar Panles witha 2year manufacturers guarantee and a 25 year limited output warranty (basicaly this guarantees the same output in 25 years less 20%)

Our 180W solar panels are on offer at £2.77 per watt thats £499.99 you find one cheaper if you can - i challenge you!

We have stock in and are heavily discounting over the winter months.

If you prefer to buy online we have the same for items sale via our ebay shop wher eyou can also pay online - we always like people to buy from http://shop.freesolarenergy.co.uk as ebay do take a large 4% from anything we sell.

Heres our ebay shop:-

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=250187003325&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

£2.77 per Watt beat that it you can on a 180W Panel ! We will beat any genuine quote.

Id also recommend you split the challenge by silicon type - Moncystalline being the most efficient followed By Polycrstalline. The cheaper Amorphious silicon and thin film solar panels only have a life of between 3-6 years before the degrade and typically the average person in the street looks for panel size - big panel must be value for money. If your in the market for a solar panel - no matter where you choose to purchase make sure it Monocrystalline or if on a budget polycrystalline insist that its CE certified and a bonus if its TUV (gemany certification - much higher standard) and ISO to ensure it manufactured to the solar panel industry standards. If its a US panel insist on UL certification.

Remember not all solar panels are the same - look for the certifications and a great price

Thats my rant for the day - Buy wisely! Make the investment once in a lifetime.

Hi.
Your full price list would give a better understanding of your claims, I see your website offers a 'call for price' option??
If you could make the full price range public your entry will remain, including the link.

Delivery cost is also a factor and should also be included.

Ben.

The cheapest 5w panels I've seen are from this shop on e-bay
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Solar-Panel-5W-Monocrystalline-Module-UK-SELLER_W0QQitemZ220158520228QQihZ012QQcategoryZ41981QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem
Thats £31 for a 5w monocrystaline panel £6.2 W
£44.98 for a 10w
£85.98 for a 20w
I can't afford a large panel and am linking smaller ones as I can afford it.
£499.99 for a panel, my wife would kill me!
I would also only buy monocrystalline they are miles better giving a charge on dull/cloudy days

To Shaunluty,
Seems to be a lot of restrictions in your challenge. Monos w/ 25 year warranty?
Poly doesn't count? 20 or 30 year doesn't count?
I have seen lower prices on poly, delivered, to Romania, from the US.
It all depends on the restrictions, doesn't it?
I did not say your price was not good. Just be careful what you claim.

Ive listed my 6W Monocrystalline Solar Panels - the last 5 of my remaining stock on ebay.

6W Monocrystalline Solar Panels @ £23.99 plus 6.99 basic postage or option to get faster by paying a pound extra for recorded.

£23.99+£6.99 = £30.98 /6 = £5.2/W

Thats the best i can do with the remaining stock i have for now.

Tricky to gauge, relying on an auction price and currency conversion, here goes;
$292 + $129 = $421

$421/80 watts = $5.26/W or £2.66/W (Live rates at 2008.01.05 10:18:54 UTC)

Best price yet including delivery from the U.S to the U.K....

Another question, I think we have probably found the cheapest, has anyone got any experience on the best manufacturer? which I appreciate may not be the cheapest.
Mono-crystaline which I prefer, then poly-crystaline second choice.I suspect a lot are made in China - could be wrong.

Hi Fungus, if this guy is the e-bay seller "sunelec_miami", then his shipping rates are quite high.

Quote from his shipping estimate for a BP 115W panel to Europe:
"$600, it doesn't worth it"

The BP 115W panel he sells on ebay is $525 buy it now and the shipping is $600 to Europe.

These panels come from Germany. Seems bonkers to have them shipped all the way to the US and then to the UK. I wonder if we can track down a European seller somewhere.

Cheers

Del.
