Anyway... Im still going to make a wind turbine, yesterday I have found an Office chair... perfect for my future Ametek.
And I hope you guys would'nt mind me asking more advice and questions, regarding the other side of the windturbine cable.

I agree with everything said in that article - especially about the rooftop wind turbines - see http://scoraigwind.com/rooftop.html
It really is utter BS saying a 5' wind turbine can save you loads of money off your electric bill as they are trying to, especially with it mounted on the side of a building in quite a few cases below roof level with loads of turbulance. This doesnt mean that a well sited machine cant do well to power a few lights, tv etc but the claims made are utter nonsense imho , very overpriced too. |

I also agree with all comments in that article:
B&Q's Windsave turbines are probably o.k, but the marketing and possible misguided advice on the siting of the turbine will give wind power a bad reputation if sales figures dominate good advice, which I suspect they do.

Looks like the price has also increased by £400....
In my opinion and with a few DIY skills it would be better value to buy a Navitron or Futurenergy 1Kw turbine and mount it on a scaffold pole in the best location within your property, saving £1000 at worst.

| What really gets me is that they sell it -only- for rooftop mounting and -only- by 'accredited installers' , meaning that its basically impossible to mount it in a reasonable place, and the cost; like ben said it would be much better to buy a futurenergy or similar wind gen.. |

Not quite Fungus,
Dick Strawbridge has one of the Windsave turbines mounted on a tower, although in his series he said he met up with the boos of Windsave whilst on holiday (I seem to recall) so probabaly didn't buy it via B&Q. The B&Q deal may be as you state above. But I completely agree with you - to sell a 1kw turbine only for rooftop mounting is unbeliveable stupidity.

Yes Del, that was in the back of my mind but I dont remember him meeting the person on holiday, I was wondering at the time how he was able to get it..
I wonder if you could persuade them with a waiver of responsibility/warranty etc. |

I'm sure Windsave as a commercial business would not turn business away if they were approached directly. They may have signed an exclusive distribution agreement with B&Q but Dick managed it somehow and that was on the BBc so hardly kept secret.
Have a word with them and if no joy post something on the It's Not easy Being Green website forum or email Dick directly (via the same website).
The waiver would only work on the responsibility side only as they would always be legally bound by the Sale of Goods act (merchantable quality, fit for puurpose, minimum period warranty etc).
