Hello everyone

just intro myself to the forum before i jump in and pick everyones brain .

I have a small solar set up (4times 80w) + a 40w just to trickle charge my work battery.

Had my home rewired so got the sparks to add some rings in just for solar , as i am hoping to expand my system over time .

in summer i can run all my lights (all low energery 150w in total).
tv , dvd , freeviw box , laptop without the batteries getting low.

in winter .....emmmmmm well ..maybe if i watch no tv , live in the dark , go back to the abicus .....well i think you get the idea .

so this brings me to wind ....to supplement the solar ..

after standing in the garden with a set of blades made from the plans off here , and messing with any motor i could distroy ,
i achieved 2 things .
one was to discover i am now hooked on gettting wind power
the second was to prove to my neighbours that i am just as mad as they think i am ....running outside every time the wind blows to watch some plastic bits of pipe spin??

well to my question ... i think my best bet is to go for a small vawt . we have great neighbours and wish to limit noise and visual impact .

does anyone supply vawt in the uk ?
Navitron may be getting one .... i am watching there web site .no idea of price yet , but they seem good people deal with .

I have found some sites but they are normally large scale or dont have price info .

i dont normally buy from ebay unless i can find out about the company in an other way ( not that i have found a uk suppler on there )

thank

Hello wigmouse
The "running outside every time the wind blows" rings true with me when I was starting out - I have a window now

Vawts seem the nice 'neighbor friendly route' but I don't think this is going to become a reality I'm afraid.

Navitron imports its turbines from China clearly.
Have a look at alibaba - this is where all the products are sourced and will indicate what is going to become available shortly - It doesn't look great to be honest.

hi ben

thanks for the reply and the link .

what a great idea them window devices seem to be ( made me smile ), do you have a link for them please ....or do you sell any plans so i can make 1 out of soil pipe ?

looks like best bet for vawt is to make from scratch like others on here .

i did get a few magnets and some coil wire , to see if i could induce a current.............. but me and my wife ended up playing with the magnets like big kids. .

thanks
wayne
