I've been thinking about converting the dynohub into an air core radial flux alternator - not sure if I have enough space for the 3 phase windings though.
I may be in the realms of fantasy here - worth a posting.
I can fit 12 N42 Neo magnets on the rotor - 2 in place in the image below.
I can get a 75 mm (3") diameter wooden block in the space where the original stator was and hopefully cut some slots to wind the coils in the same fashion as Fungus did on the stepper motor, see this posting. http://gotwind.forumco.com/topic~TOPIC_ID~412.asp
I would appreciate some advice on the number of coils and gauge of wire or if it is remotely possible to achieve a non cogging dynohub??
