Hi all,

I'm close to having all the bits I need to start welding up my chassis for the Futurenergy PMG. The design will be based on the tried and tested Hugh Piggott type of offset rotor and gravity tail.

But two questions: What kind of rotor offset do you thing would be about right, I'm thinking around 125mm (five inches)? And secondly the tail section - for the bracket on the chassis do you think it should be at 90 degrees to the mount for the generator and at what kind of angle. I'm sure a lot of this info will be in Hugh's books but I don't have them so wondered if anyone could offer some advice.

Ooh, one last thing. I think I've read somewhere that the generator mount should be angled on a 5 degree backward tilt. To increase the distance between the blades and the pole presumeably?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Cheers

Del.

Agreed.
A great write up by the U.S otherpower guys.
As previously suggested this furling setup combined with the Futurenergy blade and alternator should be a winning combination - avoid the 12v option I suspect, 24v better.

Ben.
