hi fungus and fellow turbine men.
fungus i have watched and read all your posts regarding your controller, but i have a question . when your unit diverts the load to a dump load, would it be possible to use the signal to activate a large relay, so i could dump my power to a water heater.?
i have a beewind controller, and its as much use as a hand brake on a canoe, it trips in to early and trips out just over 12v, so i was wondering if i could use one of your units to control a heavy duty relay for my water heater. in essence your unit would not have to handle a large load, but infact just supply power to the relay switch, and then the relay would handle the large current to the heater.

Donnie - that would work but I'd think with relatively limited relay life, the controller does switch on and off pretty fast so it could reduce the life of the relays as they're used so often, wearing the contacts.

The controller is built to handle large loads, why don't you hook the water heater directly to the controller, as load?

Hi Speo and Fungus.
Speo claims it will handle large loads fungus now i thought your wee box of tricks was limited, i'm looking at a pmg producing 50A output and feeding into a 1000A battery bank, thats why i thought i could use your controller to divert the load via a heavy relay to my water heater/dump load, even when charged the battery bank would not cycle that fast surely, or am i missing something ..lol.
When are you hoping to have your controllers back in stock fungus or is it wise to place an order now..?

regards donnie.

Hi Donnie,

I think here is an answer to your question: http://www.fieldlines.com/story/2008/3/7/22124/07563

The kit comes with more than one option for the resistor that controls how fast to cycle the relay.
