guess what, yesterday while sorting out the tools in my van I had all these boxes next to the solar air heater, and my son who is 2 years old, decided to test the glass and smacked the glass with a hammer and there was a crack along the window, little bugger, and since it has been cold the cracks have spread, but I think that it shouldn't affect performance since the air actually travels through the cans, I wasn't very amuzed since the box is already finished, and now I don't want to replace the glass, too much work, and knowing my kids it will happen again, here's a pic of the finished article, maybe you can spot the damage to the right side of the window: . cheerio super hot cranky windy |

If you suspect a repeat then you really need to get that glass off the ground. It will definitely be a serious cutting hazard when one of the kids breaks the glass all the way through. Kids just don't know about the dangers of glass so you have to out-think them for their own safety.

cheers Mattm, yes I do absolutely agree with you safety always comme first in my book, I have warned the kids that if they go anywhere near the box, I will sell them on e-bay, postage free, on a serious note though, I have tried to look for a strong clear duct tape, ideally weatherproof, I'm sure I have used it before on site, but now I can't seem to find it in any shop, must have a look online for it, I want clear so the light still goes through it and hits the cans, but it has to have the strenght of duct tape, we'll see what can be found, but it will prevent anyone cutting itself and maybe stabilise the cracks for a while. cheers super windy |
