Hi to everyone at GotWind.org!

My name is Keith. I'm in Lansing, MI, USA. I have been doing a lot of looking around at home-built wind turbines and finally decided to make one of my own. You can see video of it on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwZ0bCKdml0 .

I'm excited to join a group of fellow enthusiasts and learn lots of info, trade knowledge, etc.

Hello Keith and welcome.

I recognise that 2 blader design in the youtube video , looks good, I prefer 3 blades these days, bit more torque and less gyroscopic forces in yaw.
I would be interested to know what motor you are powering? and any output figures?

Good to see new members, we seem to be getting a lot of Americans here recently which is absolutly fine, I guess because gotwind is a .org

You may want to remove your email address from your signature, spam mail will look for 'live' links such as this I believe - you will be contactable via pm (private message) here anyway - after 10 postings, that is set up to avoid unwanted silly emails - again...

Keep up the good work.

Ben.

Thank you Ben.
I have removed my email.

A little about the turbine,it is all pvc.
the blades are 6' scd40 foam core pvc, the body is three way electrical
service box, the motor is out of a garage door opener It has 200 volts
printed on it.in The nose is a bearing set with threded rod thrue them for the blade mount.

with a 5-8knt wind it puts out about 3 volt.
the wind has been lite sens I put it up but we are forcasted for 25kts
tomorrow.

Neat. I like the service box.

It can't make VAC and VDC. My guess is it makes DC.
If the motor has brushes and magnets, it is probably making DC.

The blades need to be shorter for a reasonable cut-in speed of 8knt.
Maybe half as long. 4" pipe may be faster than 6" pipe.

It's giving me a headache. I refused some garage door openers not long ago.
