Be careful Ben,
If you run one of the meters on your Ametek 30v, you will have to call it a 50 watt wind gen rather than a 100 watt
I am not sure I agree with the industry standard of 28 mph for output, 14 mph would be more realistic, but only my opinion.
Best, Tim |

Agreed. A 50 watt rating would have been more accurate - you live and learn. It is capable of well over 100 watts however - in a gale |

As I continue to play with my model wind turbine (5V stepper motor), I have looked at various dataloggers. The two I am considering are :
Watt's Up http://www.rc-electronics-usa.com/ammeters/dc-amp-meter.html
eLogger V3 http://www.eagletreesystems.com/MicroPower/micro.htm
I believe the eLogger V3 offers more features and has the potential of doing what I am trying to accomplish. Two emails to Eagle Tree have currently yielded no response to my questions.
What I would like to do is capture data over a two week period, to be reviewed after the test. Since the turbine will be located in a remote location (i.e. no power for a laptop), I can't use the eLogger's "USB Live Mode" for real-time data capture and storage in the normal sense. What I can do, however, is build a simple and inexpensive PIC-based micro controller data recorder and capture the real-time data stream (via USB) at a rate I desire and store it on a flash device for later retrieval.
Two questions:
1. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of the eLogger V3? 2. Has anyone captured the real-time USB Live Mode data stream and understand its data format?
Richard
