Hi guys.
You may told this answer of this question before...
Ok I have my wind turbine up, and working, the motor is an Amatek 30V.
I like to know what type of battery (Voltege and Haperges) I need for charging up energy from my wind turbine...
I know that it's a "Deep Cycle Battery".
Perhaps you can recomend somebody or place were I can buy (hopefully not ot expensive).

I am not very experienced and whenever I want to build something I ask the experienced guys and check and doublecheck ... so, take my answer accordingly.
I would use a 12V battery for Ametek 30.
I would choose the Ah of the battery to be 5-10 times the average output of the Ametek 30 in your wind conditions. ex: if your Ametek makes 10Ah every day, I would use 50-100 Ah battery.
Also, you should keep in mind how much power you would like to drain from the battery, without recharging. You shouldn't discharge the battery lower than 80% on a regular basis. If you need 40Ah before recharging, then 40Ah should be less than 20% of the battery size, which means the battery should be at least 200Ah.

Hello Oliver,
I began "building" my battery bank about a month ago.
On the way home from grocery shopping for the week, I decided to stop by the local motorcycle shop and see if they would allow me to have some of their battery exchanges - the old batteries exchanged for the new batteries. To my amazement, they filled my trunk and told me to come back as often as I wanted to get as many more as I would be able to haul away.
The batteries range from 4 to 30 amp-hours and most of them are in the 12 ah range.
I started accumulating them and attempting to desulfate (search "desulfator" on ebay) some of the more promising ones both for the experience and seeing what could be accomplished. Some of the batteries came back up within a day and some have taken more than a week to restore and some are still being pulse-charged back into usable shape. While I'm not suggesting this as an approach for most to consider - it's a lot of effort to get a few small batteries into a very small battery bank - as approaches go.
The upside is I also located a local independant battery dealer who will accept the old dead batteries in exchange for a full size marine deep cycle battery (30:1). This provides me with full size batteries (SLA - sealed lead acid) and a way to ecologically recycle the junk batteries from the motorcycle dealers in the area and my cost is the time to stop and pick them up while I'm out on errands.
I would prefer what's referred to here as a traction battery - the type used in fork lifts, and other industrial equipment such as floor sweepers. It's my understanding they have an exceptionally long life. I have yet to locate a fork lift club or dealer in the area, but I'm looking.
When I look at the price of one or more battery banks to run an entire home or office - the cost is staggering and this approach appears to be working for now.
