Looking good. Interesting furling design, I've not seen one like that before.
I hope you can generate more than the 10-20 watts required to energise the field coils.
To add images here, just do this.

Thanks ghurd and Ben much appreciated. I Might need a bit of advice here about taking the project further. At the moment to my disappointment its using around 40 ish watts to fully energize the field coil....hum Ive seen other projects on the net where the electromagnet coil is replaced with large doughnut neo magnet/s to create the magnetic field via the rotor pole fingers.(rotor pole fingers pulled apart off the shaft....field coil removed, and replaced with large magnet) Can any one tell me whether the flux generated by this meathod is sufficient?. The furling mechanism is a long spring which is adjustable through adjustment of the spring anchor point. Cheers WM |

I only recall one. It used microwave ceramic magnets. It would have been a lot better, IMHO, if... The shaft was stainless steel, A bit more space between the teeth and sides of the magnet(s) to avoid so much flux shorting, I think, Neo magnets certainly would have helped, naturally, and I think it would have been the major difference.

Good stuff windymiller!
You know, one of the things I really like about this board is seeing how the fertile minds that post here overcome problems with their own designs. It's like a little slice of 'tinkerer, inventor, heaven' on this site.
Cheers! BW
