Hi buddy Have a look at your local builders merchant, the best one that I found its a triple wall pipe they are orange colour, hope that helps, prices usually for a 3 metre length of the pipe around £20, but sometimes they have offcuts and you can get all that you need for a £10, or better still have a look at building sites and skips and give the fellas a fiver for a drink and they would usually let you take the offcuts that are waste. cheerio super windy |

| Try looking in the 'proper' building merchants/warehouses such as Keyline,Grahams etc - there is some pretty big pipe available. B&Q etc are only really DIY stores and as such wont have 'real' stuff. 4" pipe still works ok though, not quite as well though. |

I got a meter for free. I went to a local housing development and just asked the one with the tie
Try to get there when they are doing the initial groundwork, because that's when the drainage goes in. |

Hi Pintail
Do not use pipe, try circular gutter section instead. It is very strong but does flex, also there is less work as the trailing edge is already straight.

Just catching up on the latest threads.
My local B&Q does do the normal 6" soil pipe. £11 or £12 from memory for a 3M length. Maybe it's just the bigger B&Q's though.

You're right about the UV Pintail, the orange stuff is usually designed for below ground (PVC), so you need to be looking for (PVC-U)in orange, grey, black and I think some firms also do it in white. Try looking up 6" drainage, e.g Hepworths, Polypipe etc
Hope this is of help, Hef |

| I got 2m of grey coloured guttering from B&Q for less than £5. I assume that it has UV protection but dont know for sure. It's NOT a FULL semi-circle of tubing. I have measured it's "diameter" and it's about 4 and a half inches. I havent cut it up yet cos I havent printed the plans off yet. |

Hi shawn just read your post on the pipe many thanks for that, I did find some old off cuts some time ago,& made my first set of blades, but I'am still waiting for my ametek motor to come from the states to try them on (the first one got lost in the post so the guy said on ebay when I emailed him,) its been 5 weeks now since I ordered the fist one, also got a phone call today from a pal who said that he has got some pipe for me to pipe pick up tomorrow. Hi hefhoover the pipe I found was orange but I have painted the blades so I hope they should be ok,the pipe I'am picking up tomorrow I have know idea what colour it is as my pal is getting from some one else. many thanks for the info from both of you pintail |

If you are painting pvc it sticks better to blades that have been slightly sanded. This way the paint won`t come off in a few months time.

Hi victor, when i cut the blades, there was a big diffance in the weight between each of the blades,& it took a lot of sanding down to get them all the same weight, they were then primed & top coated so they should be ok, many thanks pintail. |

Speaking as an engineer and having watched the Youtube videos "IF" I was cutting blades from PVC pipe I would Draw up a template first out of thin card. You could always do one blade first then make your template from this once your happy with it. Then all your blades are going to be virtually identical. Then balance them with washers on the mounting points. Us a CD marker pen to draw out on the pipe. SEE I do know something!!!!!
